10 Mar 1794: Edward James Eliot to Mrs. Stapleton
[In a later hand (spidery, as if written by an aged person), written in faded ink: ‘March 10, 1794']
My Dear Mrs Stapleton
You will probably see in the papers the accounts of the success of the troops we have landed in Corsica; they are not altogether authentic, but nevertheless are credited. I think there is no other news. Mr [William] Pitt [the younger] Thank God continues perfectly well. He slept Saturday and Sunday night at Wimbledon, and is come to town this morning prepared for as tedious and long a law debate this evening, as has been often known.
