15 Apr 1794: Edward James Eliot to Mrs. Stapleton
My Dear Mrs Stapleton,
Having been very much engaged all day in preparing for (I flatter myself) a very speedy departure from Town [London], I have only time to tell you every body here are very well; and that there is no news, unless the execution of [Georges Jacques] Danton and his confederates may be call'd so, which I apprehend has actually taken place. Their trial you see in the papers. I might also to add that the stocks have risen to day very considerably, but one does not exactly know why.
I By My Love etc as usual and am
