A rare and fabulous Cabinet Card photograph of the recently widowed Mrs Arthur Post of New York with her dog "Linda", taken in Pau, France in 1885, shortly after the posthumous birth of their daughter, Helen Agnes "Nelly" Post. Born Miss Elizabeth Wadsworth, daughter of the Civil War General James Samuel Wadsworth, she didn't remarry until February 1889, when she became Mrs Arthur Hugh Smith-Barry.
