Uncle Eliot Dies

Uncle Eliot and Aunt Inez were at her villa at San Remo, the year after my confirmation, when dearest Uncle died of heart trouble at the villa. A great loss to all three of us. I think everybody loved him, and for Mother he was always a support and advisor in every possible way. That year, Aunt Inez and all her family accepted Mother as a valuable Aunt. Aunt Inez really liked Mother, and she and her sister, Aunt Aggie, came more into our lives. Even George Crawley, the eldest, became a real friend, and his lovely wife was very good to us.
