Port Eliot Red Book — Designs for Lord Eliot by Humphry Repton (1792-3)
Port Eliot Red Book: "Before" Layover
Henry Repton was renowned for his use of layover illustrations. He painted watercolour renditions of his architectural and landscape changes, then he would add a small layover piece to give a "before" and "after" effect. This painting shows Port Eliot and St. German's Church as they appeared at the time of Repton's visit in 1793.
